WHY DO I WATCH THIS FILM?

Posted on: 16 January 2006

The scenery, the actors and all its beauty, but then he dies

and I have watched the whole film with tears in my eyes Bob’s last words to Novalyne,

“Take a look at that sunset I ordered for you.”

Novalyne’s last words to Bob, “I sure do appreciate it.”

“All fled, all done, so lift me on the pyre; the feast is over, the lamps expire.”

a yarn of unrequited love,

girl meets boy, boy meets girl

their passion in that one embrace,

their differences unfurl

a broken heart, a broken soul

The Whole Wide World

This is a great post! I loved TWWW! But yes it sure does suck when he dies.

You made me want to cry, again.Just reading that and seeing the pictures 😦

It is a beautiful film.

BTW did you know that the U.S version is shorter than the Asian one?

Wonderful Hannala, the final words Bob writes are what crush me.

All fled, all done,

So lift me on the pyre;

The feast is over

The lamps expire.

A friend of mine in Holland found me this on R2 DVD, so hopefully I’ll see it one day soon…

Hi Hannala

OK, so I’m in tears again – that piece that he leaves in the typewriter…….Wonderful film, achingly wonderful performance from Vincent (and Renee)

The story is so sad, made even sadder because it’s true. But everything about the film is so beautiful; I love to take it all in, to absorb every part of it … and I always need that box of kleenex

Must try and get a last viewing of VoG before I leave.

lotsa luv ann xxxxx

Wonderful post Ann. The pictures are great. 🙂

I am so glad that you do not charge admission because I came back to look again. Safe trip my friend. 🙂

I’ve never seen it- but knowing that he dies, I don’t think I can! :0(

Christy, you would love it. it is a beautiful film, set in a wonderful location. the acting is brilliant. they couldn’t change the ending because it’s a true story of Robert E Howard, the creator of Conan the Barbarian and his love of Novalyne Price. Please try it; it is done to perfection. Sorry, I know I’m waxing lyrical, but it really is that lovely.

lotsa luv ann xxxxx
