Goodbye

Watches them playing their games
Aware she’s different; she’s not the same
Not quite accepted; an outsider looking in
Remembers when they were her friends
Stands on the edge unsure, yet unafraid
Extends hand in friendship… rebuffed again
She knows them well, they’re hardly strangers
Accepts that nothing ever really changes
Memories as a child standing alone
By the playground fence, now she is grown
These are not children who cast her aside
Contemporaries she’s known all her life
She is damaged goods, no longer whole
She slopes away; it’s time to let go

I felt that one!!!

Maybe it’s time to seek out new playgrounds and friends.

Yep. I’m feeling this one, too…you’re speaking to my soul…

I love the way your words paint such personal pictures and find their way straight to my very own memories. Beautiful words!
