I Do Not Love You Except Because I Love You: Pablo Neruda
Posted 15 August 2007
on:I do not love you except because I love you;
.
I go from loving to not loving you,
.
From waiting to not waiting for you
.
My heart moves from cold to fire.
I love you only because it’s you the one I love;
I hate you deeply, and hating you
Bend to you, and the measure of my changing love for you
Is that I do not see you but love you blindly.
Maybe January light will consumeMy heart with its cruel ray
Stealing my key to true calm.
In this part of the story I am the one who diesThe only one, and I will die of love because I love you,
Because I love you,
Love, in fire and blood.
.
These were not the original set of caps I intended to post with this poem, but since I had a technical hiccup, which was entirely due to my lack of computer skills, I had time to reflect and firmly believe these words could have been written by and for Robert E Howard himself and the pictures seem hauntingly appropriate.

Bless your technical hitch! It’s a wonderful pairing of words and perfectly appropriate pictures.

Wonderful … and now I have to go off and rent “The Postman” (I think it was) to hear even more of his wonderful verse.
I’m staying HERE for the pics, of course.

I wonder why I start smiling visiting this blog… 🙂
Wonderful what you did with this post Ann!
Wish you a beautiful day,
Liz

This is beautiful! Happy Friday Ann! 🙂 Tina

Wow, this is good. Thank you for introducing me to poets that I had heard of but not read. For a poet wanna be, I’m rather poorly read. Bukowski, Sylvia Plath, Raymond Carver, Anne Sexton and Dylan Thomas. A few odds and end from my college anthology. Good stuff in that, from Marlowe and Shakespeare on up to the modern poets. But whenever I get to read something I’ve not seen, I love it.

very interesting, but I don’t agree with you

This is astonishing, Ann. Your skill at finding words and pictures to go together is just breathtaking.
