I do not love you except because I love you;

I go from loving to not loving you,

From waiting to not waiting for you
.
My heart moves from cold to fire.
I love you only because it’s you the one I love;
I hate you deeply, and hating you
Bend to you, and the measure of my changing love for you
Is that I do not see you but love you blindly.
Maybe January light will consumeMy heart with its cruel ray
Stealing my key to true calm.
In this part of the story I am the one who diesThe only one, and I will die of love because I love you,
Because I love you,
Love, in fire and blood.

These were not the original set of caps I intended to post with this poem, but since I had a technical hiccup, which was entirely due to my lack of computer skills, I had time to reflect and firmly believe these words could have been written by and for Robert E Howard himself and the pictures seem hauntingly appropriate.

Wonderful … and now I have to go off and rent “The Postman” (I think it was) to hear even more of his wonderful verse.

Wow, this is good. Thank you for introducing me to poets that I had heard of but not read. For a poet wanna be, I’m rather poorly read. Bukowski, Sylvia Plath, Raymond Carver, Anne Sexton and Dylan Thomas. A few odds and end from my college anthology. Good stuff in that, from Marlowe and Shakespeare on up to the modern poets. But whenever I get to read something I’ve not seen, I love it.
