once is sad; twice is pathetic

Posted on: 16 November 2007

Yes, that’s how many times I have lost this post.   Don’t even ask.   The original post was written on Monday and misplaced a few hours later.   The second attempt was speedily rewritten later that night and saved successfully; hooray I thought, sorted!

Wednesday evening I thought I’d enhance it a little and edit a bit here and a bit there.    What a shame that I’d  bothered, because that too disappeared, vanished, evaporated in a puff of imaginary smoke.   HUH!

Still I shall not be beaten, but I shall not repeat myself  because maybe there was a subliminal message to all this madness.   Maybe I was not meant to say what I was gonna say so, instead of deep profound thoughts on responsibility, compromise, conscience, choice, freedom and freewill, which had been spurred on by your far more interesting and insightful comments on my post A Bridge in Time than the actual post itself, I shall say nothing more on those subjects… my lips is zipped and I shall move on with a hotch potch of a post instead.

Thank you for those comments anyway and thank you for the lovely comments on my stab at writing verse… I value your criticism too.   I know many of you never saw my foray into poetry before because it was kinda hidden away in it’s own little place.   I accept I’m just a wannabe, but I do enjoy trying.  Here’s another little silly taster.

It may kill me, but…

go on
surprise me!
I know, I know
it won’t be a surprise if I know
but
I won’t
I won’t know
if
or when you do surprise me
of course
I could have a heart attack
or
I could slip and break my back or
I could get giddy and sick and
 need an analgesic or
I could catch a fever or the grippe or
I could hurt and bite my lip or
I could even have a fit and
 need an ataractic
and…
and…
and…

how tragic if
in the rush
I flush and blush
and turn to mush
and…
and…
and…

if after all
I fall
if…
if…
if…
or when
you surprise me

and…
and…
and…

call

Almost last, but not least, as once was my custom I shall end this week with new piccies of Boaz and Moriah.   Only a couple of weeks to go and I’ll be in Israel again celebrating Chanukah with them.

Have a great weekend Ann!!! Enjoy cooking for your family. The kids are gorgeous!

I like your poetry and the children are beautiful!

Thanks for dropping by my blog and taking the time to comment. 🙂

good sabbath to you, too, ann…more pix of the children, please.

and, thanx for the picture that i dribbled over!!!

Interesting as always. I don’t think I’ve ever had a truly profound thought, so you won’t find that on my blog. 🙂 Kids are cute as can be, and I know you’re counting the minutes until you get to see them. The picture of VDO is one of my faves, too. Have a great weekend!!!!

Ann, you are a poet by any definition.

Eyes nose lips.

Great poem. Been there. Done a monologue on the subject – Dorothy Parker? – when I was at school.

Your poetry has not missed a beat. This one conveys all the persnickety doubt and anxiety that you meant for it to.

And I have to thank you for your luxurious compliments. You’re a very kind person and I’m glad I found your website way back in June. Seems so long ago to me. It’s the first year in a long time to move this slow. I guess the theory of relativity is right; the faster we move, the more time dilates. I’ve written more poems this six months than all of them added up in my lifetime.

And I thank you for your example and your fine reading–both that you provide here, as well as the reading that you do at my site. How do you like your new home? Other than the quirks of posts disappearing… I would freak out if that were to happen to me. I guess you might have to write poems on (gasp) ms word. Eeeek.

Hope you are well. Talk to you soon, Ann.

You’re braver than I am!

As for the lovely Vincent, I’ll take him from curls to toenails, and all stops inbetween (please) 😉

Hope the weekend goes well

Just keep writing Ann…

Hi Dearest Ann ~

What a lovely new home you have… Thanks for letting me know about your move to WP. I know I have been gone a while, but I am hoping to be around more soon. It can’t get much worse, right? Things can only go up from here, right?

I miss you and hope all is well with your beautiful family.

Oh, I nearly forgot… Is MrsBG here too??

Safe travels and enjoy your family. Tomorrow is Thankgiving over here, a special holiday for giving thanks, and among the things I give thanks for is good poetry, and yours certainly qualifies!

Take care,

Tom

Ann you may find this hard to believe but I have done a review on my sadly neglected VDO blog. Honest.

Great poem and the littles are as cute as ever. OK, possibly cuter. That pic of Boaz on the swing is awesome. 🙂

“A wannabe”, no, no no girl, me I love it when you start writing and give us a little peek in to :). I’m just happy when your inspired.

As always lovely photo’s from Boaz and Moriah. They look wonderful, 😮 they grow so fast Ann! unbelieveble how fast time goes.
When your again with them in Israel, do give them an extra hug.
And finally, as one of the VDO nuts, love your taste it is one of the best pics …and no I don’t think you left anything out…

have a great day my friend.
Liz
