Who Are You?

Each night he comes to me in different forms
Is he real, a dream, a fantasy, am I delirious
He says I know him, what is your name
No answer, silence, dark, brooding, mysterious
Is he good for me, does he mean me harm
Neither my rambling mind nor fevered body can discern
His breath warm, words honeyed, embrace pleasing
Silken, delicate like the brush of a sweet nocturne
When he lays his hands upon my skin each nerve cell screams
If it’s pure reverie, then how come this trance so vivid
In ecstasy he dines on me as a gourmet meal
He declares fit for royalty, consumes my flesh, devours my spirit
Yesterday he was distant, withdrawn remote in a faraway place
Today, he is dominant, strong, powerful holding me safe
And tomorrow who will he be; what shall I be to him and he to me
I may never know or ever learn, eternally he is my mystery

Dear Ann,
You write like a dream.
I love the stream of consciousness flow that you use for part of your poem, as you ask questions that I relate to. Your word choices resonate like long songs upon my eyes and vibrate in my heart, pulling its strings with your skilled “marry and yet…” hands.
Lyrical rhyming poetry is a treat for me to read.
I have not been brave enough to post my attempts at such a type of poetry but once or twice on a long forgotten blog.
Thank you for this treat that I have now read 4 times. It’s like I’m in a trance as I read this…
I’m linking you up right now. (Already linked your other blog long before now, but forgot to do this one until I saw it on B’s blog.)

I find this one of the most evocotive poems you have ever posted here. Wow!
Tom
